How do multipliers work in RIP City?
Multipliers only appear when a Wild Cat stretches over a WILD symbol. The cat extends from where it lands down to the bottom row, but only if the stretched cat completes a win; a WILD it covers then turns into a multiplier of 2x to 200x for the whole cat. When several multiplied cats share a win, their values are added before the win is paid.
Wild Cats that stretch down the reel
A Wild Cat that lands on row two stretches over rows two to five; one on the top row covers the whole reel. A reel can hold only one Wild Cat at a time, and a cat that would not complete a win stays a single wild square. A stretched cat multiplies only when it covers a WILD, so a spin can show two tall cat reels and still pay modestly.

The loose WILD in that frame shows the other half of the rule: an ordinary WILD substitutes like any wild but multiplies nothing unless a stretched cat covers it. On spin 44 of the on-screen session two cats filled reels one and three completely and the result was the same €21.00, with a WILD on reel five again left uncovered.

Paytable values below are multiples of the bet, read from the game at €2.00. The heart with the 8-ball is the top regular symbol, and five WILDs or five Wild Cats pay 25x.
| Symbol | 3 | 4 | 5 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10, J | 0.2x | 1x | 5x |
| Q, K | 0.3x | 1.5x | 7.5x |
| A | 0.4x | 2x | 10x |
| Banana, candle skull | 1x | 5x | 15x |
| Dice, X-eyed smiley | 1.5x | 7.5x | 17.5x |
| Heart with 8-ball | 2x | 10x | 20x |
| WILD, Wild Cat | - | - | 25x |
Compared with other Hacksaw line games the table is generous at the bottom: five card ranks pay 5x to 10x, while in Wanted Dead or a Wild they pay 1x.
Ro$$ Bonus and Maxx Bonus
FS scatters decide the round. Three in the base game start the Ro$$ Bonus and four start the Maxx Bonus, both with 10 free spins; three FS landing together inside add 4 spins.
| Bonus | Trigger | What changes | Buy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ro$$ Bonus | 3 FS | Wild Cats and WILDs land more often; 4 FS during the round upgrade it to Maxx, topped up to at least 10 spins | 110x |
| Maxx Bonus | 4 FS | A reel that gets a Wild Cat stays activated and gets a Wild Cat on every remaining spin | 200x |

We bought one Ro$$ Bonus for €220 to film it. The ten spins paid €358.00, 179x the bet and about 1.6 times the price, without reaching the Maxx upgrade. At one point in the recording Wild Cats stood on several reels at once, with line wins of 2.00 and 40.00 marked between them.
A 500-spin log without a single bonus
A script played 500 spins at €2.00 against the demo server and wrote down every result. No FS scatter trio arrived in that time, so everything below is base game.
RIP City paid less often than any other slot we logged: 19.2% of spins, with a dry run of 31 spins. For most of the session the balance sank, reaching its lowest point, €4,634.20, on spin 365. Then two spins changed it: number 366 paid €184.40 (92.2x) and number 370 paid €197.60 (98.8x), lifting the balance to the session high of €5,007.60 within five spins.
The run finished at €4,878.40, a return of 87.8% on the money staked, helped by a 37.5x win on the very last spin. It is a fair picture of a base game whose money arrives in a few stretched-cat lines rather than in steady small wins.

RIP City questions
Answers from the rules screen of the demo and Hacksaw's game page. For the other cat-themed Hacksaw slot, with a harsher volatility score, see our Chaos Crew review.
What is the RTP of RIP City?
The default version pays back 96.22% over the long run. Hacksaw also offers 94.27%, 92.32% and 88.02% versions; the demo runs the 96.22% one.
How big can a RIP City multiplier get?
A WILD covered by a stretched Wild Cat becomes 2x up to 200x. If two multiplied cats are part of the same win, the two values are added.
How do you get the Maxx Bonus?
Land four FS scatters at once in the base game, or four during the Ro$$ Bonus to upgrade it. It can also be bought for 200x the bet.
Who are Ross and Maxx?
Ross is the cat on the left of the grid and Maxx the mouse on the right. Each bonus is named after one of them, and the Ro$$ Bonus can turn into the Maxx Bonus.
Verdict
RIP City is the strangest-looking slot in this selection and one of the more rewarding to understand: once you know that a WILD needs a cat over it, every tall cat reel becomes readable. The base game is patient work, as our log shows, but its card ranks pay better than usual and two spins at 90x or more can rescue a session. The Maxx Bonus, with reels that keep their cats, is the round we did not get to see; its buy returns 96.41%, one of the higher figures on this site. More Hacksaw demos are on the home page.
