In Hounds of Hell a single dog can outpay every symbol on the grid. Hacksaw Gaming released the game in February 2025 on a 5x5 grid where six or more matching symbols pay anywhere and cascade. When a spin ends, each Hellhound climbs to the top of its reel, and every square it covers adds to or multiplies a total that is paid times the bet. The cap is 20,000x, and the studio's build in the window below lets you chase it free of charge, no registration involved.

What loads above is the 96.27% version at €2.00, our stake for every euro figure here. A casino may be on 94.16%, 92.26% or 88.14% instead. GAME INFO adds that gambling your bonuses lifts the base game's return to 96.28% if you always gamble once, 96.30% if twice.
A dog that climbs to the top of its reel
When a spin ends, each landed Hellhound spreads up to the top row and every square it covers shows a value, Adding (1x to 50x) or Multiplying (x2 to x10). The game reads them bottom to top, reel by reel from the left, keeps a total above each reel and pays the sum times the bet. Only one Hellhound can land on a reel at a time.

Where the dog ends up counts more than where it lands. On our best spin one arrived in the top square of reel five, a win cleared the three squares beneath it, and it fell to the fourth row before spreading back over four squares.
Hellhounds side by side in one row form a Roaring Pack with higher values. Hounds are Loose, striking on a settled grid, clears every 10, J, Q, K and A for a refill with a better chance of Hellhounds.
| Symbol | 6 | 7 | 8-9 | 10+ |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10, J, Q, K, A | 0.1x | 0.3x | 1x | 5x |
| Skeleton hands | 0.3x | 0.7x | 2x | 7.5x |
| Pentagram | 0.4x | 1x | 2.5x | 10x |
| Skulls | 0.5x | 1.5x | 3x | 15x |
| Horned emblem | 1x | 2.5x | 5x | 25x |
| Eye in a triangle | 2x | 5x | 10x | 50x |
GAME INFO lists no wild. Ten eyes pay 50x; the reel of dogs on our best spin paid more than twice that.
In what order do adding and multiplying Hellhounds count on one reel?
From the bottom square up. Each Adding value joins the reel's running total and each Multiplying value multiplies it, so the order decides the result. On our best spin a Hellhound covered four squares of reel five reading 3x, 15x, x3 and x2 from the bottom: 3, then 18, 54 and 108, worth 108x the bet, or €216.00. In our log a Multiplying value collected first, with no total yet to multiply, counted as its own value: a lone x2 on the top row paid 2x.
Five Hellfire Orbs before the first free spin
What the Hell! needs three FS symbols and gives 10 free spins in which the reel totals stay, grow and are paid together at the end. Four FS symbols start Who Let the Hounds Out?!?, where the first Hellhound on a reel makes it a Hell Reel with a Hellhound on every later spin, and the totals are paid and reset spin by spin. Extra FS symbols add 2 or 4 spins.
Before either starts comes the Bonus Gamble: pick up to 3 of 5 Hellfire Orbs, each possibly holding 2 to 10 free spins or, in What the Hell!, an upgrade to the four-scatter bonus. You may gamble once per bonus and again after an upgrade.

The frame comes from a What the Hell! bought for €200.00 at €2.00. The same play-or-gamble choice stopped our script three times in the log below.
Three bonuses the script could not open
Our script plays spins but cannot answer prompts. Three spins in the run landed FS symbols, four once and three twice, and the server waited at the play-or-gamble choice; the next request returned "General error" and the demo restarted at €5,000. These three rounds are left out of the 500 logged at €2.00, so the log holds no bonus and the line below is a running total of stakes and wins, not one continuous balance.
The 500 spins returned 68.2%. Only 14 had a Hellhound, always on one reel, but those dogs paid €414.00 of the €681.80; the remaining 486 spins paid €258.80 between them.
Three dogs guaranteed per Howling spin
Howling FeatureSpins, 60x a spin, guarantee at least 3 Hellhounds per spin with FS symbols switched off, which means at least three reels with a dog.
| Option | Price | At €2.00 | RTP | Volatility |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| BonusHunt FeatureSpins Each spin is 5 times more likely to trigger a bonus game | 3x per spin | €6.00 | 96.24% | Very high |
| Howling FeatureSpins Each spin guarantees at least 3 Hellhound symbols; FS symbols cannot land | 60x per spin | €120.00 | 96.24% | High |
| What the Hell! 10 free spins with progressively collected Hellhound multipliers | 100x | €200.00 | 96.18% | Very high |
| Who Let the Hounds Out?!? 10 free spins with activated reels that guarantee Hellhounds | 250x | €500.00 | 96.26% | High |

In GAME INFO the gamble moves the two bought bonuses in opposite directions: What the Hell! returns 96.18% without a gamble and 96.25% with one, Who Let the Hounds Out?!? 96.29% and 96.26%.
The dogs, the orbs and the packs, briefly
Rules from GAME INFO, observations from our log.
Can two Hellhounds land on the same reel?
Not at once; GAME INFO allows one per reel at a time. The squares it spreads into can show different kinds of value: 7 of the 14 Hellhound reels in our log mixed adding and multiplying ones.
How does a Roaring Pack change the values?
Adding values run from 5x to 100x instead of 1x to 50x, Multiplying values from x3 to x20 instead of x2 to x10, and squares spread from a pack member count as pack members too.
What did Hounds are Loose do in our log?
It cleared the low symbols on 5 of 500 spins, and on 2 of them a Hellhound dropped into the refill.
Our 500-spin log has no bonus. Did none trigger?
Three did, but the script could not answer the play-or-gamble prompt and the demo restarted; those rounds are left out.
Chaos Crew's reel counters, moved into the base game
Our Chaos Crew review shows the same arithmetic in an older Hacksaw game: a number above each reel, Sketchy Skulls adding +1 to +20, Cranky Cats multiplying by x2 to x20, the sum paid times the bet. There it runs only in free spins and reads left to right, top to bottom; here it also settles base spins, from the bottom up. Both use a 5x5 grid; Hacksaw rates Chaos Crew 5 for volatility and this game 4, with caps of 10,000x and 20,000x.
Hounds of Hell is a game of single reels: in our log 14 reels of dogs outpaid the other 486 spins together, while half of all paying spins returned 0.4x or less. The bonuses build the totals the same way: What the Hell! keeps them to the end, and Who Let the Hounds Out?!? guarantees a dog on every reel it has activated.
